What is Pasitos de Luz?
'Pasitos de Luz' stands for 'Little Steps of Light' in Spanish. We are a not-for-profit “Asociación Civil” (Civic Association) based in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, that provides care for local children with physical and psychological illnesses.
Some of these children require 24 hour attention and come from very poor families unable to provide anything near the necessary levels of care. These children rely completely on Pasitos de Luz for their well-being.
Our charity was founded in the year 2000 and we have come a long way since then! See here for our progress over the years.
Currently Pasitos de Luz functions as a daycare center. However, we are in the middle of a project to build a larger center that will enable us to provide overnight care too. This new center will be called Casa Connor and is a collaboration with a Canadian charity of the same name. Learn more about our new center here!
Which services does Pasitos de Luz provide?
Pasitos is a lifeline for the more than 122 families who rely on us to look after their children during the day. We offer a huge range of essential services for our children, including physical rehabilitation, speech therapy, nutrition, education, medication and much more!
Does Pasitos de Luz charge for its services?
All the children that receive care and support at Pasitos de Luz do so completely free-of-charge. That is why we are so reliant on the generosity of donors and volunteers.
How can I get involved?
We are delighted to receive new volunteers. Every new pair of hands helps! If you would like to volunteer at Pasitos de Luz, please get in touch .
We rely on donations. If you would like to donate, you can learn how to do so here . We have partnered with other non-profits in the USA and Canada, enabling you to donate while receiving a tax deductible receipt.
